“We live only to discover beauty. All else is a form of waiting”
This Kahlil Gibran quote, and its slightly awkward rephrase that i am using as the name for this blog, are in essence what i live for and worry about in this life. In these times, the only one i can ever truly (can i, really?) know.
This world is a cynical place and this blog will be my personal antidote against that. I will try and find beauty in the extraordinary and the mundane. I will be ready to recognise and appreciate it when it reveals itself in unexpected places. This beauty comes in many forms and sizes; not just the institutionalised beauty between the four walls of stuffy art museums, but also the kind that can be seen by anyone with their eyes and minds open.
Especially that kind of beauty.
When i am happy, i am surrounded by beauty. It protects me like the arms of a mother, caresses me like a new lover, endears me like a helpless animal, awes me through nature in all her force and envelopes me with the warmth of true friendship.
It may even challenge me and ask questions i do not want to think about. I will let it fill me with its light. I will burn the daylight. It will be like living life for free.
