Majestic they stand, the ancient trees captured by San Fransisco photographer Beth Moon during the course of 14 years as she travelled the globe in search of the finest specimens. Her photographs – developed with the platinum/palladium process* – document these powerful yet gentle giants and how they symbolise the passing of time. beth-moon-ancient-trees-2beth-moon-ancient-trees-5beth-moon-ancient-trees-14beth-moon-ancient-trees-11beth-moon-ancient-trees-4beth-moon-ancient-trees-8beth-moon-ancient-trees-3beth-moon-ancient-trees-7
* With platinum printing, noted for its beautiful luminosity and wide tonal scale, the absence of a binder layer allows very fine crystals of platinum to be embedded into the paper giving it a 3-dimensional appearance. Unrivalled by any other printing process, platinum, like gold, is a stable metal. A print can last for thousands of years.
